One notable aspect of this project is that it makes history visible and tangible. At one time this colourful placename tradition was in danger of falling by the wayside - even in New Iceland - but now both visitors and residents can see abundant evidence of the area's rich heritage as they drive along its highways and byways.

Old and young alike have embraced this tradition
, and some of the most enthusiastic advocates are young people and newcomers who appreciate the richness of the area's heritage and wish to preserve it.   Visitors from Iceland find it especially heart-warming to see old and familiar names marking historic homesteads and keeping the Icelandic heritage alive.
Icelandic Heritage Signs are a positive and permanent way of honouring our pioneers and commemorating local history - in any settlement across North America.    Consider marking a heritage site that has special significance in your family history...
