Sharing Old Photographs...

The main objective of the Silent Flashes project is to locate old photographs of the Icelandic pioneers and their descendants - photos now scattered across North America.    Sharing and comparing images is a mutually beneficial process that can help date, identify, preserve, and utilize these unique visual artifacts.   Once archived, forgotten images may be rediscovered by descendants - or used in a book, film, or exhibit.   If you have old photographs, you can help by sharing your pictures and knowledge...

A home for unidentified photos...    All too often, old photographs are discarded because no-one can identify them.   However, many of these photos can still be identified with some detective work (a specialty of Silent Flashes ), and even unknown photos can be valuable records of the Icelandic immigrant experience.   Whether you just want to identify photos or are looking for a safe home for them in an archive, your input is welcome...
